Celebrate National Pathology Week

Celebrate National Pathology Week
7 November 2016
Join us in celebrating National Pathology Week this November

It’s National Pathology Week! All this week from 7-13 November, pathologists and laboratory scientists will provide events to increase awareness and improve the public understanding of pathology.

This week’s theme is ‘Pathology: prevention, diagnosis, treatment’.

Last year over 240 events were registered by pathologists, specialist organisations, hospitals and laboratory scientists in the UK. These included lectures, lab visits, workshops and exhibitions.

Some of the fun events happening this year include a junior doctors careers fair, a competition on the art of pathology, a microbiology open day for students, labtech training for people interested in a career in pathology and healthcare science, and lectures on historical post mortems. Coming up is International Pathology Day on 16 November, emphasising the role of pathology in healthcare around the world. It will feature a roundtable event and webinar on: how can we strengthen pathology education & training in low and middle-income countries?

There are many volunteer opportunities available and events happening to celebrate this week around the UK.

The IBMS offers members chances to take part with local and public events to promote biomedical science. Click here here for more information on how to get involved. Should you have an event in mind, contact us at pe@ibms.org.
