HCPC Preceptorship consultation – have your say

HCPC Preceptorship consultation – have your say
7 November 2022
Members are invited to respond to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) consultation to help them develop their guiding principles for preceptorship across health and care professions.

The HCPC want to hear the views of IBMS members as they look to update their guiding principles for preceptorship programmes to promote high-quality professional practice.

Collaborating with Health Education England (HEE) the HCPC have engaged stakeholders across the four UK nations and 15 professions to build on existing examples of good practice in preceptorship. Their aim is to produce a set of evidence-led principles that seek to standardise the quality of preceptorship programmes available.

Preceptorship is a structured programme of professional support and development designed to improve registrant confidence as they transition into a new role. Registrants undertaking preceptorships are supported to achieve their potential whilst delivering safe and effective care and treatment. They also support health and care professionals to develop and maintain confident, safe and effective practice throughout their careers.
