IBMS Celebrates 100th Registered Scientist
12 February 2015
The Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) is celebrating the 100th member to have achieved Registered Scientist status.

Katy Bisson, an Associate Practitioner based in Jersey General Hospital, has become the 100th IBMS member to achieve Registered Scientist (RSci) status. Katy is also the first Associate Practitioner in Jersey to have achieved RSci status.

Having completed the IBMS Certificate of Achievement portfolios Parts 1 and 2, Katy was able to apply to be a Registered Scientist (RSci) with the Science Council.

Katy was delighted to learn of her milestone achievement and is already enjoying the benefits of RSci status:

"Becoming an RSci has improved my professional status and career progression; it has given my employer and colleagues the assurance that I am committed to professional development in a scientific field due to the yearly assessments required to maintain RSci status.

As the first Associate Practitioner in Jersey to achieve RSci status I hope it will increase the professional recognition for support staff and therefore encourage others who feel passionate about their laboratory career and are committed to professional development to apply.".
