IBMS members learned about the latest advancements in cellular pathology at the Midland Cellibration 2016 conference

The IBMS Central Cellular Pathology Society recently held their bi-annual conference this year in Hinckley on 28-30 October.

This year’s conference provided delegates from around the UK a chance to meet and hear reports on the latest topics in the field of cellular pathology.

IBMS member and Committee Chairwoman Karen McLeod, CSci FIBMS, gave the following statement:

“The educational programme across the two days covered a range of Cellular Pathology topics from BMS Reporting, Lymphomas - How Far Have We Come, Andrology and Looking at Colour in Histology, along with other interesting presentations on the (Not So) Secret History of Porton Down, Venereal Disease in World War One and the Screening for Drugs of Abuse.

The event was attended by IBMS President Ian Sturdgess who gave the President's Address. The highlight of the weekend was a Mexican themed Cellibration Dinner, complete with Mariachi band where there was great participation in the fancy dress theme. Feedback from both delegates and sponsors agreed that it was the Best One Yet!”

CCPS Trade representative Kerry Gawthorpe added, “The committee would like to thank the trade, the speakers and the delegates for their continued support, as without them, we could not continue to put on such successful weekends!”

There are a number of IBMS groups dedicated to cellular pathology and other disciplines in biomedical science. If you are interested in connecting more with professionals in this field, you can find a regional branch near you, or you can start a conversation in one of the IBMS forums.
