King's Fund report
14 October 2022
The King's Fund has published a report called "Why do diagnostics matter?"

The King's Fund's report takes a look at diagnostics in the wake of COVID-19, focusing on the scope for innovation through the introduction of new technologies, and widening access and changes to patient pathways.

The briefing explores the role that diagnostics play in underpinning much of the activity that takes place in the health and care system, the policy focus to date and where attention is needed to ensure diagnostic capacity and capability are fit for the future.

It says that growth in the diagnostic workforce has not kept pace with demand and activity, that there has been historic under investment and that a concerted policy focus is needed to increase the workforce and capital investments that are required to support a much-needed increase in diagnostic capacity.
