NHS England are advertising an opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Scientist

The Clinical Fellow will have the opportunity to work directly with the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), Deputy CSO, and the senior team on a variety of projects, which may include operational management issues as well as long range NHS strategy.

The post holder will have a qualification and background in healthcare science, with extensive knowledge of how scientific services are commissioned and provided. They must demonstrate expert knowledge with a minimum of three years’ NHS management experience in a healthcare science role.

The Chief Scientific Officer provides clinical and professional advice and leadership to the healthcare science system, inclusive of the 50 plus different scientific professions/specialities in areas such as pathology, microbiology, genetics/ genomics, cardiac and respiratory physiology, hearing, medical physics and clinical engineering. The team has close working relationships with the Department of Health, Health Education England and Public Health England and CSOs or their equivalents in the devolved administrations.
