Inspire the next generation of biomedical scientists by volunteering with The Access Project

The Access Project is a well-respected charity dedicated to helping young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to access top universities. This is a mission we admire and encourage, after all, a major part of the IBMS’ work is focused on supporting and delivering excellence in the next generation of biomedical scientists.

If you want to help bridge the access gap for a young person, the Access Project is currently recruiting new volunteer tutors. By volunteering only an hour a week during term time, you will have the opportunity to help a young person to develop the skills and knowledge they need to accomplish their goals.

Your time as a volunteer will be spent reinforcing students’ existing knowledge, addressing topics that the student finds challenging and encouraging the student to take ownership of their learning. You will receive full training in safeguarding and lesson planning and will be given tips on how to ensure your classes are as fun and as engaging as possible.

The Access Project is particularly interested in tutors from STEM subjects so as an IBMS member your skills and knowledge are in high demand.
